Henry Purcell died in 1695 while writing his final opera, The Indian Queen. So it was his brother Daniel who, rather quickly and without much inspiration, completed the rich, visionary and transcendent score by the British composer. Some centuries later, we are delighted to present the world première of a fresh and unedited version of Purcell's final work, including some of his most inspired songs, as part of a new script based on La niña blanca y los pájaros sin pies by Nicaraguan novelist Rosario Aguilar. This new spectacle of dance, music, literature, theatre and visual arts describes the first contact between Europeans and the Mayans of the New World, through a personal account of the conquest from the point of view of the women who created a new culture.
